Zapia, an AI assistant designed for WhatsApp, has successfully raised $7 million in a seed funding round led by Prosus Ventures. This funding will support the expansion and enhancement of its services, which aim to save users time and money by automating everyday tasks.

What Does Zapia Do?

Zapia provides a virtual assistant that can be accessed through WhatsApp or a mobile app. It helps users automate routine activities such as scheduling messages, managing calendars, transcribing voice notes, and making reservations. The platform currently serves over 6 million customers across Latin America, including in countries like Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay.

Key Executives Behind Zapia

The company was founded in 2023 by a team of experienced professionals. Juan Pablo Pereira serves as the CEO and Co-Founder, while Nicolas Loeff is the CTO and Co-Founder. Juan Olloniego heads the engineering team as Co-Founder, and Pablo Rodríguez-Bocca leads AI engineering efforts. Martín Alcalá Rubí holds the position of Co-Founder and Chairman.

Use of Funds

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards the launch of Zapia Max, an advanced version of the AI assistant. This new iteration is designed to perform tasks more autonomously, including navigating websites, comparing prices, tracking subscriptions, and completing online bookings. Users will be able to define permissions for these tasks, enhancing the assistant's utility.
