Xscape Photonics Raises $37 Million in Series A Funding

Xscape Photonics, a semiconductor startup based in Santa Clara, California, has successfully secured $37 million in a Series A funding round. The funding, announced on March 11, 2026, was led by Addition, with participation from existing investors IAG Capital Partners and Nvidia Corp.

The company specializes in developing photonic solutions designed to enhance data transmission within AI data centers. Their technology aims to overcome the limitations of traditional copper-based interconnects by utilizing silicon photonics, which employs lasers for data transfer, thereby providing significantly higher bandwidth.

Launch of FalconX

In conjunction with the funding announcement, Xscape Photonics introduced FalconX, their first laser-based optical interconnect device. FalconX is designed to facilitate ultra-fast, high-capacity data transmission for AI data centers. It is capable of emitting up to eight wavelengths of light simultaneously, allowing for multiple data streams to travel over the same link. This capability significantly increases data transmission volume and efficiency.

Addressing AI Data Bottlenecks

Xscape Photonics' FalconX aims to address the "escape bandwidth" issue in AI clusters, where traditional copper interconnects become bottlenecks, limiting the performance of GPUs and other AI processors. The new device supports wavelength-division multiplexing, which allows for multiple data streams, thereby optimizing data center operations.

Use of Funds

The $37 million raised will be used to advance Xscape Photonics’ development of multi-wavelength photonics platforms. These platforms are intended to support next-generation AI data center infrastructures by removing current networking bottlenecks and improving data transmission capabilities.

Strategic Investors

The funding round was spearheaded by Addition, a notable investor in the tech industry, with continued support from IAG Capital Partners and Nvidia Corp. This strategic backing underscores the confidence investors have in Xscape Photonics' innovative approach to solving data transmission challenges in AI data centers.

Xscape Photonics continues to push the boundaries of optical technology, aiming to provide solutions that meet the growing demands of AI workloads. The successful Series A funding round marks a significant milestone in the company's mission to enhance data center efficiencies.
