XPENG Robotics, known for its electric vehicles focused on performance, safety, and sustainability, has announced a significant financial boost. The company raised $900 million in an undisclosed funding round on August 24, 2026. The round was led by IDG Capital, with additional investments from Gaorong Ventures, Tencent, and Alibaba.
Strategic Focus on Humanoid Robotics
The funding aims to bolster XPENG Robotics' efforts in developing its advanced humanoid robot, IRON. This next-generation robot is designed with a human-like structure and operates on internally developed AI and control systems. IRON features 76 degrees of freedom, enhancing its mobility and dexterity, and is powered by XPENG Turing AI chips capable of 2,250 TOPS of computing performance.
Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds will primarily support research and development in both software and hardware, focusing on XPENG's Physical AI technology. The company plans to enhance its mass-production infrastructure and pursue international commercialization. The investment will also facilitate the generation of high-quality training data and the continuous iteration of their AI models.
