Vitalfluid Raises €17.2 Million to Expand Plasma Technology

Vitalfluid, an Eindhoven-based startup, has successfully raised €17.2 million in a Series A funding round. The round was co-led by Invest-NL and Alder Tree Investments, with participation from several other investors including Horticoop, BOM, Future Food Fund, Graduate Ventures, Innovation Industries, VDL Groep, and Goeie Grutten Impact Fonds.

Vitalfluid empowers growers to use plasma technology as a natural, residue-free alternative to chemical fungicides. The company specializes in developing technology that produces Plasma Activated Water (PAW) using only water, air, and electricity.

Strategic Investors and Funding Details

The funding round was notably supported by a €2.7 million innovation credit from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), with Invest-NL contributing €4 million. This financial backing underscores investor confidence in Vitalfluid's innovative approach to sustainable agriculture.

Focus on Sustainable Crop Protection

Vitalfluid plans to use the newly acquired funds to expand the reach of its technology globally. The company aims to provide more growers with access to effective alternatives to chemical crop protection methods. This development is expected to accelerate the commercial rollout of their PAW technology.

Erik Hertel, CEO of Vitalfluid, commented on the funding: "This investment confirms the potential of our technology to make a fundamental contribution to a more sustainable and future-proof food system."

Industry Implications

As the agricultural sector increasingly seeks sustainable solutions, Vitalfluid's approach offers a promising alternative to traditional chemical fungicides. By leveraging plasma technology, the company is positioned to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly crop protection solutions.
