TurnUp Secures €2 Million in Seed Funding Led by Newion
TurnUp, a Ghent-based startup, has successfully raised €2 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Newion, with additional backing from RDY Ventures. Founded by Nicolas Bruyne, with Koen Lepez serving as the CEO, TurnUp is focused on minimizing missed appointments in dental clinics and medical practices.
Addressing Missed Appointments with AI
TurnUp offers an AI-driven solution that predicts which dental appointments are at risk of being missed. The platform automatically sends reminders, makes AI-generated calls, and manages waitlists to fill empty slots without requiring migration from existing practice management systems. This approach aims to alleviate the burden on reception teams, who often need to manually manage these tasks.
Missed appointments are a significant issue in healthcare, costing providers billions annually. "We always start from the same question: how do we make sure every chair in a practice is filled? No-shows are the biggest obstacle to occupancy," said Koen Lepez, CEO of TurnUp. The company has already demonstrated success in Belgium, the Netherlands, and the UK, and plans to expand its reach across Europe and into the US.
Strategic Use of Funds
The newly acquired funding will be utilized to enhance TurnUp's platform capabilities and expand its market presence. The company aims to address the widespread issue of appointment no-shows, thereby improving the efficiency of healthcare practices across Europe and eventually in the US.
Investors and Leadership
The seed funding round was led by Newion, with RDY Ventures also participating. Nicolas Bruyne, the founder, and Koen Lepez, the CEO, have been instrumental in steering TurnUp's growth and innovation. Lepez, who became CEO in 2024 after initially investing in the company, has been pivotal in scaling the platform's capabilities and expanding its market reach.
TurnUp's innovative approach to tackling missed appointments positions it as a key player in the healthcare technology sector, with ambitions to transform appointment management across the globe.
