Throne Science Raises $10 Million in Series A Funding
Throne Science, a company turning everyday bathroom visits into actionable health insights, has successfully raised $10 million in a Series A funding round. This round was led by Will Ventures, with participation from a diverse group of investors including Emerson Collective, Workshop, LEAD VC, Salt VC, Accomplice, Moxxie, Ventures Together, Symphony, Felix Capital, Cosmic Venture Partners, Offscript, V1.VC, and Morrison Seger.
Company Overview
Founded in 2023, Throne Science has developed a smart toilet sensor that utilizes AI and computer vision to monitor digestive health, hydration, and urinary patterns. The sensor, which attaches to a standard toilet, provides users with trends and patterns via an application. The insights are designed to be accessible rather than clinical, empowering users with a better understanding of their gut health.
Leadership and Team Expansion
Throne Science is led by co-founders John Capodilupo, who serves as the Chief Product Officer, and Scott Hickle, the CEO. The company has recently added several key executives with experience in consumer wearables and health technology. Notably, Ben Grynol has joined as Vice President of Growth, and David Strasfeld, Ph.D., as Senior Vice President of Research and Development. The team is further bolstered by Dr. Karan Rajan, who has taken on the role of Chief of Science.
Strategic Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds are earmarked for several strategic initiatives. Throne Science plans to expand its team and accelerate research and development efforts for its smart toilet sensor. The company aims to enhance its product to not only provide valuable health insights but also explore the potential for early detection of serious conditions such as colorectal and urinary tract cancers. However, this longer-term goal would require substantial research, clinical validation, and regulatory approvals.
Product and Market Expansion
Throne Science launched its consumer product in March 2026 and is targeting a broad market that includes everyday consumers and individuals managing digestive conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The company has launched a beta version of its Gut Health AI coach to offer personalized feedback based on the data collected by the sensor.
As Throne Science continues to innovate and expand, the Series A funding will play a crucial role in developing the next generation of its technology, aiming to provide deeper health insights to its users.
