Stake Secures $8 Million in Equity Funding

Stake, a Dallas-based fintech startup, has successfully raised $8 million in an equity funding round. This round was led by LAGO, with additional investments from RET Ventures, Bluefield Capital, Hamilton Ventures, Gaingels, Hub Angels, and Second Century Ventures. Stake offers a platform that allows thousands of investors worldwide to access income-generating real estate deals in high-growth markets, starting from as little as $136.

Acquisition of UMoveFree

In conjunction with the funding announcement on March 11, 2026, Stake revealed its acquisition of UMoveFree, a Texas-based apartment-locating platform. UMoveFree has been instrumental in helping over 5 million renters find homes since its inception in 2004 and has delivered more than $35 million in cash-back rewards. This acquisition is expected to bolster Stake's capabilities in providing renters with visibility into potential savings during the apartment search process.

"You can search for a deal on a hotel. You can search for a deal on a flight. But until now, you couldn't reliably search for a deal on rent," said Rowland Hobbs, CEO and co-founder of Stake. "With UMoveFree powered by Stake Cash Back, we're making affordability visible at the start."

Leadership and Vision

Stake is co-led by Manar Mahmassani and Rami Tabbara, who serve as Co-Founders and Co-CEOs, along with Ricardo Brizido, the Co-Founder and CPTO. The team is focused on transforming the rental market by integrating financial services with apartment locating tools, making it easier for renters to find affordable housing options.

Strategic Use of Funds

The newly acquired funds are earmarked for accelerating Stake's growth in rental search and leasing services. The company plans to integrate UMoveFree's property search system with its own platform, enhancing the AI capabilities to better match renters with properties that offer the most savings. This strategic investment will also support further acquisitions, expanding Stake's reach and service offerings.

Conclusion

With the new funding and acquisition, Stake is poised to enhance its impact on the rental market, providing renters with more control over their housing expenses. The integration of UMoveFree will allow Stake to offer a more comprehensive service that not only aids in finding rental properties but also in maximizing financial benefits for renters. As affordability pressures continue to mount in housing markets, Stake's innovative approach could offer much-needed relief.
