Scan.com Raises $220 Million in Series C Funding
Scan.com, a company that connects payers, providers, and patients with imaging centers across the US, announced it has raised $220 million in a Series C funding round. The round was led by Noteus Partners, with participation from investors including Aviva, Concord Health Partners, YZR Capital, and Oxford Capital.
Expanding the Medical Imaging Network
Founded by Charlie Bullock and Oliver Knight, Scan.com aims to streamline the process of connecting patients with imaging facilities. The company provides a platform that integrates search, scheduling, and results delivery into a single national API, allowing healthcare providers and patients to access imaging services more efficiently.
"The US runs around 600 million medical imaging scans a year, and there is still no national infrastructure behind them," said Charlie Bullock, Co-Founder and CEO. "This investment is about making that the standard in US healthcare, rather than the exception."
Strategic Use of Funds
The funds from this Series C round will be used to enhance Scan.com's infrastructure and expand its presence in the US market. The company plans to build what it describes as the largest medical imaging network across the Atlantic. This move is intended to address the inefficiencies in the current US medical imaging market, which is valued at over $100 billion but remains fragmented and largely offline.
Addressing Market Challenges
The investment will also support Scan.com's efforts to tackle issues such as the national shortage of radiologists and technologists and the varying costs of imaging services. The company highlights that the same MRI can cost significantly different amounts depending on the location, with some centers booked weeks in advance while others remain underutilized.
By providing a centralized platform, Scan.com aims to reduce administrative costs and improve accessibility to imaging services, making it easier for patients to receive timely and affordable care.
Looking Forward
With this latest round of funding, Scan.com is poised to further its mission of modernizing the medical imaging process in the US, ensuring that patients receive quality care in a timely manner and at a transparent cost.
