Rozana Secures $33 Million in Series B Funding

Rozana, a rural e-commerce platform focused on delivering essential products to underserved communities in India, has successfully raised $33.06 million (Rs 290 crore) in a Series B funding round. This investment was led by Bertelsmann India Investments (BII), with participation from Fireside Ventures, Spark Growth Ventures, Bikaji Family Office, FE Securities, and other select family offices.

Company's Mission and Operations

Founded in 2021 by Adwait Singh and Ankur Dahiya, Rozana operates with a mission to provide easy access to FMCG, groceries, beauty products, and more, specifically targeting India's rural population. The platform integrates a consumer-facing app with a network of over 75 modern retail experience centers and a robust distribution infrastructure.

Currently operating in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, Rozana claims to serve over one million active households and aims to expand its reach significantly.

Strategic Expansion Plans

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards several strategic initiatives. Rozana plans to expand its operations to over 200 stores and enter two to three additional northern states across the Gangetic belt. The company has also set a long-term goal of reaching 130,000 villages.

Strengthening Infrastructure and Offerings

The funding will also be utilized to strengthen Rozana's technological infrastructure, broaden its product categories, and develop private label offerings. A crucial component of its strategy is leveraging its network of over 35,000 women partners who act as local entrepreneurs and fulfilment agents, ensuring effective last-mile delivery in rural areas.

The participation of notable investors like Bertelsmann India Investments and others indicates strong confidence in Rozana's business model and growth potential. This funding round marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues to scale its operations and enhance its service offerings to better cater to India's rural communities.
