Reson8 Raises €5 Million for Speech Recognition Technology

Reson8, an Amsterdam-based company specializing in real-time automatic speech recognition for European languages, has successfully raised €5 million in a pre-seed funding round. This round was led by Balderton Capital, with additional participation from NP Hard.

The company offers a unique speech recognition platform that adapts to its context in under a second, specifically designed to address the challenges of non-English languages and dialects in Europe.

Funding Details

The pre-seed round, announced on March 19, 2026, aims to advance Reson8's adaptable speech recognition technology. The lead investor, Balderton Capital, is known for its focus on early-stage technology investments, while NP Hard also contributed to this funding round.

Founders and Mission

Reson8 was co-founded by Raoul Ritter, who, along with his team, brings experience from varied fields including high-frequency trading and healthcare speech technology. The company is focused on closing the performance gap in speech recognition technology for European languages, which often lag behind English in terms of accuracy and contextual understanding.

Technology Focus

Reson8's platform emphasizes acoustic precision and real-time adaptability. Unlike traditional models that require retraining or additional layers, Reson8's system uses smaller modular adapters to dynamically adjust recognition in real time without increasing latency. This makes it suitable for specialized language use cases across different industries such as healthcare, legal, and customer support.

The platform is designed to handle specialized terminology, supporting accurate recognition of drug names in healthcare, adapting to firm-specific language in legal contexts, and recognizing product names in customer support scenarios.

Use of Funds

The newly raised capital will be used to expand Reson8's European infrastructure and continue the development of its speech models and inference stack. Additionally, the company plans to selectively grow its team to support these initiatives.

Commitment to Europe

A significant aspect of Reson8's strategy is its commitment to building and operating its infrastructure within Europe. This approach is intended to provide customers with greater control over data residency, aligning with the increasing regulatory requirements for European-hosted AI systems.

At launch, the platform will support more than 20 European languages, aiming to significantly improve the quality of non-English speech recognition.

This funding marks a critical step for Reson8 as it seeks to enhance the precision and adaptability of speech recognition technology across Europe, addressing the unique linguistic challenges faced by various industries.
