Point2 Technology, a San Jose-based company specializing in ultra-low power connectivity systems-on-chip (SoCs), has raised $136 million in a Series B funding round. The round was led by LB Investment, with participation from strategic investors including Arm, Maverick Silicon, NVIDIA, UMC Capital, Molex, and Bosch Ventures.

Innovative Connectivity Solutions

Point2 Technology focuses on developing high-speed SoCs and reference design platforms that accelerate the deployment of next-generation data centers and 5G infrastructure. The company's innovative RF-based interconnect technology is designed to meet the growing demand for bandwidth and reduce power consumption in AI computing systems.

Use of Funds

The newly acquired capital will be used to expand Point2's engineering, systems, operations, and business teams. The funding will also accelerate the commercialization of three primary product categories: Active RF Cable, near-packaged e-Tube, and co-packaged e-Tube solutions. These products aim to support future rack-scale compute architectures, which require high-bandwidth connections with lower power consumption and latency.

Sean Park, Co-founder and CEO of Point2 Technology, is leading the company's efforts to address the increasing connectivity requirements in AI data centers. "As AI systems scale and bandwidth demands reach terabit-per-second speeds, interconnect performance becomes a critical constraint," Park noted.

The e-Tube Technology Platform

Point2's e-Tube Technology Platform offers an alternative to traditional copper and optical interconnects. The platform uses RF signaling transmitted over plastic waveguides, providing significant advantages in reach, weight, and cable volume compared to copper. It also offers lower power consumption, cost, and latency compared to optical connections, without the reliability risks associated with lasers.
