Picketa Systems Raises $1.5 Million in Seed Funding
Picketa Systems, a startup focused on real-time plant nutrient analysis and crop nutrient tracking, has secured $1.5 million in a seed funding round. This investment aims to advance their AI-powered technology that assists growers and agronomists in making faster, data-driven nutrient decisions.
Funding Details
The seed round was led by Tall Grass Ventures. Other participants included BDC Seed Fund, Verdex Capital, Skull Diamond, Heart Capital, NBIF, Koan Capital, and East Valley Ventures. The funding was announced on June 15, 2026.
Innovative Approach to Crop Nutrient Analysis
Picketa Systems is pioneering a portable crop nutrient sensing system that leverages AI-powered spectroscopy. This technology provides growers with near-instant estimates for 13 key nutrients, bypassing the traditional and time-consuming lab testing methods. "Within 10 years, with advances in crop sensing, specialized inputs, and autonomous vehicles, we will close the fertilizer loop entirely," said CEO and co-founder Xavier Hebert-Couturier.
The company's Leaf Evaluated Nutrient System (LENS) has proven effective, validated through third-party lab testing. This system, combined with Picketa’s Fieldbook platform, allows farmers to optimize fertilizer use, potentially reducing costs by up to 20% while improving crop yields.
Founders and Leadership
Picketa Systems was co-founded by Xavier Hebert-Couturier, who serves as the CEO, alongside Dominic Levesque, the Chief Technology Officer, and Maxime Dumont, the Chief Operations Officer. These leaders are driving the company’s efforts to transform agricultural practices with cutting-edge technology.
Strategic Use of Funds
The funds from this round will be utilized to expand the reach of Picketa's portable nutrient sensing technology. By increasing the number of samples that agronomists can collect and analyze in the field, the company aims to enhance the precision of nutrient applications and support the growing interest from fertilizer companies.
Future Prospects
With this latest infusion of capital, Picketa Systems is well-positioned to influence the future of precision agriculture. As the company continues to develop its technology, it seeks to make nutrient management more efficient and sustainable for farmers worldwide.
