P2 Science Secures $23 Million Investment
P2 Science, a company known for its use of green chemistry to create sustainable beauty ingredients, has announced a $23 million funding round. The investment was led by Sofinnova Partners, with participation from Emerald Technology Ventures, GS Futures, Lewis & Clark Partners, dsm-firmenich ventures, Connecticut Innovations, Elm Street Ventures, Chanel, BASF, and Safer Made.
Expansion Plans
The funds will be utilized to accelerate the commercial growth of P2 Science’s innovative green chemistry platform. The company plans to expand its offerings in the beauty and personal care sector, as well as explore new markets including aroma technologies, performance polymers, home care, coatings, and crop care.
New Investors and Innovations
The funding round saw new investments from Emerald Technology Ventures and GS Futures, while existing stakeholders reaffirmed their support. This financial backing comes at a time when P2 Science is experiencing significant commercial momentum, highlighted by its inclusion in Fast Company’s list of the World's Most Innovative Companies in 2025 and 2026.
P2 Science has also recently introduced two novel beauty products: Citrolatum P, a plant-based alternative to petrolatum, and CitroComplex Nourish, a natural oil blend for skin and hair care. Additionally, the company has entered into a strategic partnership with Algenesis to develop fully biobased and biodegradable polyurethanes.
Strategic Use of Funds
The new capital will support P2 Science’s ongoing efforts to scale its manufacturing capabilities and enhance its commercial product portfolio. The company is strategically positioned to meet the increasing demand for sustainable alternatives to petrochemical-based products.
Government Support
In addition to this investment, P2 Science recently secured $2.8 million in non-dilutive funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s ARPA-E program. This funding is intended to advance catalyst innovation through AI-enhanced autonomous laboratories.

P2 Science was co-founded by Paul Anastas and Patrick Foley at Yale University’s Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering. Their vision is to transform sustainable feedstocks into high-performance, clean ingredient solutions, responding to a growing global demand for environmentally friendly products.
