Opsin's Latest Funding Round

Opsin, a San Jose-based company specializing in AI agent security, has successfully raised $21 million in its most recent funding round. The round was led by SYN Ventures and Race Capital. Opsin's platform is designed to discover AI agents, map their intent, identity, data, and access, and assist teams in prioritizing and resolving risks directly at their source.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, Opsin is led by a team of seasoned professionals, including James Pham as Co-Founder and CEO, Jeremy Mailen as Co-Founder and CTO, and Oz Wasserman as Co-Founder and CPO. Pham noted the growing need for robust security solutions as enterprises increasingly deploy autonomous AI agents across their systems.

Addressing AI Security Challenges

Opsin's platform aims to mitigate risks associated with autonomous AI agents that have the ability to access data, utilize software tools, and perform actions autonomously across business systems. As organizations grant these AI agents more extensive permissions, potential threats such as unauthorized actions, exposure of sensitive data, and disruptions to critical systems become more prevalent.

An analysis by Opsin revealed that a significant 93% of tools connected to AI agents had full, unrestricted access to the systems they interacted with, with only a small fraction requiring human approval for actions. Opsin's solution provides centralized visibility and control over AI agents created within enterprises, integrating with platforms like Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT Enterprise.

Strategic Use of Funds

The newly secured funds will be used to expand Opsin's platform capabilities to better address these emerging security challenges. The company intends to enhance its ability to detect, understand, and contain potentially dangerous behaviors from AI agents, ensuring that security teams can enforce necessary controls before incidents escalate.

Looking Ahead

With nearly 20 enterprise customers in sectors such as healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing, Opsin is positioned to continue its growth and address the evolving security needs of organizations deploying AI technologies. As AI systems become more autonomous, Opsin's solutions will play a crucial role in securing enterprise environments.

Opsin's headquarters is located at 333 W San Carlos St, San Jose, California 95110, United States.
