Navi Lands $100 Million Investment
Bengaluru-based fintech company Navi has successfully raised $100 million in an undisclosed funding round led by Prosus. This marks the first instance of outside capital for the eight-year-old startup, which was founded by Sachin Bansal, well-known for co-founding Flipkart.
Company Overview
Navi provides a wide array of financial services, including digital payments, lending solutions, insurance products, and mutual fund offerings. As a fintech firm, it aims to simplify and enhance financial access and inclusion across India.
Key Figures Behind Navi
The company was founded by Sachin Bansal, who serves as the CEO, alongside Micah Friedland. Notably, Bansal poured significant personal investment into Navi after his departure from Flipkart, with aspirations to eventually establish the company as a full-fledged bank.
Use of Funds
According to reports, the investment from Prosus is subject to standard regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Navi is reportedly preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), aiming to raise approximately โน30 billion (about $314 million). This comes after an earlier plan for a $440 million IPO was shelved due to a downturn in the IPO market.
Financial Performance
For the financial year ending March 2026, Navi reported revenues of โน30.91 billion (approximately $323.33 million) but also documented a net loss of โน4.66 billion (around $48.74 million). This funding round is expected to bolster its financial position as it gears up for its IPO.
Navi's strategic move to secure institutional funding highlights its commitment to expanding its footprint in the fintech sector, providing robust financial services to a growing customer base.
