Mowito Raises $3 Million in Pre-Seed Funding
Bengaluru-based Mowito, a company specializing in Vision AI software for robotic arms used in warehouses and factories, has successfully raised $3 million in a pre-seed funding round. This round was led by Version One Ventures, with participation from investors such as All In Capital, Unisol, iSeed, and several angel investors, including Soumith Chintala, Adarsh Kulkarni, Ashish Kulkarni, and Vaibhav Domkundwar.
Company Background
Mowito focuses on developing AI models that enable industrial robotic arms to learn tasks by observing demonstrations, rather than relying on traditional programming methods. This approach aims to minimize the need for reprogramming robots whenever there are changes in products, processes, or components, which is a common challenge in manufacturing environments. The company is co-founded by Adityanag Nagesh, who serves as Chief Business Officer, and Puru Rastogi.
Expansion Plans
According to Puru Rastogi, the company plans to utilize the funds to expand its operations in the United States. The funding will also be directed towards strengthening Mowito's engineering and go-to-market teams. "Manufacturing has reached a point where hardware is no longer the bottleneck โ software is," Rastogi explained. "Factory robots shouldn't need to be reprogrammed every time production changes. We believe robots should learn the same way people do: by observing and repeating."
Strategic Use of Funds
The capital raised will also support scaling deployments across automotive and electronics manufacturers. By enhancing their software capabilities, Mowito aims to address one of the significant barriers to industrial automation: the complexity of robot programming.
Looking Ahead
With this fresh injection of capital, Mowito is well-positioned to accelerate its growth and further its mission of integrating AI into industrial settings. The company's innovative approach to AI-driven robotics could potentially transform manufacturing processes, making them more efficient and adaptable to change.
Mowito's ability to attract significant investment at this stage highlights the growing interest in AI solutions that simplify and enhance industrial operations. As the company moves forward, it will continue to focus on expanding its market reach and refining its technology for broader applications.
