KOVE Medical Secures €1.7 Million in Latest Funding Round

KOVE Medical, a Zurich-based MedTech startup, has successfully raised €1.7 million in a recent funding round. The startup is developing an innovative implantable device designed to minimize the risk of preterm births following foetal surgery. Founded in 2020, KOVE Medical emerged from research collaborations with the University of Zurich and University Hospital Zurich. The company is led by CEO Yannick Devaud.

Development of a Novel Medical Device

KOVE Medical's primary focus is on creating a solution to address complications arising from fetoscopy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat serious health conditions in unborn babies. The conditions that can be treated through fetoscopy include spina bifida, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, and congenital diaphragmatic hernia. These conditions, if left untreated, could lead to significant health challenges for both the mother and the baby.

Use of Funds

The newly acquired funds will enable KOVE Medical to advance the development and testing of its implantable device. The company is preparing to enter First-in-Human (FIH) studies, which will mark the first time the technology is tested in human subjects. This phase is crucial for assessing the device's efficacy and safety before potential commercialization.

Leadership and Vision

Yannick Devaud, CEO of KOVE Medical, is at the forefront of the company's efforts to address the challenges associated with foetal surgery. Under his leadership, the company continues to push the boundaries of medical technology, aiming to improve outcomes for mothers and their babies.

Looking Ahead

As KOVE Medical progresses towards clinical trials, the company remains committed to its mission of enhancing prenatal care through innovative medical solutions. The successful funding round marks a significant step forward in achieving this goal, positioning the company for future growth and impact in the MedTech industry.
