JAOPS Raises ¥260 Million to Boost Space Operations

JAOPS, a Tokyo-based company specializing in space operations, has successfully raised ¥260 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by UntroD Capital Japan, with participation from Midtown Frontier Fund. JAOPS provides Operations as a Service, offering mission control systems, ground segment integration, mission simulation, and operator training for satellites, lunar rovers, and ISS missions.

Strategic Investment Partners

The seed round investment was spearheaded by UntroD Capital Japan, a prominent venture capital firm, and included contributions from Midtown Frontier Fund. This financial backing is expected to support JAOPS in expanding its operational capabilities to meet the growing demand for outsourced space mission operations.

Use of Funds

JAOPS plans to use the funds to enhance its operational tools and simulators, essential for developing its first Mission Control Center (MCC). The company is also focusing on expanding its Operations as a Service (OaaS) offerings globally. With customers in Japan, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and the United States, JAOPS aims to provide comprehensive mission operation services without the need for clients to establish their own systems.

Leadership and Vision

The company was co-founded by Alejandro Sela, who serves as CEO, and Louis Burtz. Sela stated that the investment will help JAOPS to "build a solid foundation for space mission operations," emphasizing the company's commitment to supporting businesses in the space industry.

Looking Ahead

JAOPS is poised to further its reach in the space operations sector, leveraging its new funding to build infrastructure and develop innovative solutions for mission operators worldwide.
