Hive Raises $15 Million to Advance Industrial Automation
Hive, a company focused on revolutionizing the workplace through AI-driven automation technology, has successfully raised $15 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The round was led by the UK-based investment firm SuperSeed, with additional support from Veriten, Skyfall, and Nysnø.
Expanding AI Automation in Industry
Founded in Norway in 2020 and now headquartered in London, Hive is pioneering a "silicon brain" technology designed to automate industrial machines. This initiative aims to significantly reduce operational costs by up to 80% per machine hour. The technology can be applied to various machinery used in sectors like tunneling, quarrying, warehousing, and construction.
Hive's innovative approach allows machines to perform simple tasks autonomously and more complex tasks under the supervision of remote teleoperators. This system enables operators to control multiple machines across different sites from home, enhancing flexibility and efficiency.
Strategic Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds will be strategically directed towards enhancing Hive's platform capabilities and expanding its workforce, particularly in AI and robotics. The company plans to scale its commercial deployments, strengthening partnerships with industrial entities and expanding its market presence in the UK and the US.
"The world is changing very rapidly and it's driven by AI," said Christoffer Jørgensvaaghim, co-founder and CEO of Hive. "We're in the middle of a new industrial revolution."
Market Expansion Plans
Hive has already established a presence across multiple sites in Scandinavia and is gearing up to expand its operations in London and the United States. The company sees a significant opportunity in these regions due to the current lack of competition and the novelty of its technology.
"Generally, the companies and the people we talk to haven't seen this kind of technology ever before," Jørgensvaaghim noted.
Conclusion
With this latest funding round, Hive is well-positioned to further its mission of transforming industrial operations through advanced AI solutions. As the company looks to the future, it aims to drive efficiency and productivity in industries worldwide, marking a significant step forward in the new era of work.
