HerLifeLab Raises ¥1.3 Billion in Pre-Series A Funding
HerLifeLab, a startup founded in 2022, has successfully raised ¥1.3 billion in a Pre-Series A funding round. Specializing in services that support women navigating menopause, HerLifeLab aims to help women understand their bodies and manage symptoms positively. The company's flagship online medical service, Vivalle, offers comprehensive care through virtual consultations with obstetrics and gynecology specialists, along with continuous support from nursing counselors.
Investors and Funding Details
The funding round saw participation from several prominent investors, including Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, Shinryo Fund, Okinawa Development Finance Corporation, individual angel investors, Incubate Fund, and Lifetime Ventures. Although no single lead investor was named, the collective investment reflects strong support from both institutional and private backers.
Service Offerings and Company Vision
Vivalle provides a unique service model that facilitates everything from medical interviews and nursing counseling to doctor consultations and prescription delivery—all conducted online. The service customizes treatment plans that may include hormone replacement therapy, herbal medicine, supplements, psychological counseling, and nutrition and lifestyle guidance. A distinctive feature of Vivalle is the monthly monitoring conducted by nursing counselors, which aims to maintain high levels of user engagement and satisfaction.
According to HerLifeLab, the platform has facilitated approximately 10,000 consultations, with over 90% of users reporting improvement in their symptoms. The service boasts a continuation rate of 95% among users who begin treatment.
Strategic Plans for Funding Utilization
HerLifeLab plans to allocate the new funds towards enhancing product development and strengthening its brand presence. This includes advancing the platform's development, with a particular focus on integrating artificial intelligence technology to broaden the reach and effectiveness of its services for menopausal women. "We are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of women experiencing menopause," said Kyoko Otsuka, Co-Founder and COO of HerLifeLab.
Leadership and Company Background
HerLifeLab was co-founded by Kyoko Otsuka, who serves as the Chief Operating Officer. Otsuka brings experience from her previous roles at NTT Docomo Ventures and RevComm. Her leadership, alongside CEO Olga Eliseeva, a visiting researcher at OIST with a Ph.D. in medicine, positions the company to leverage both scientific expertise and business acumen.
With the latest funding, HerLifeLab is well-positioned to expand its innovative services and further its mission of empowering women through better health management during menopause.
