The round was led by StandUp Ventures, with participation from Version One Ventures, GreenSky Ventures, AQC Capital, and Anges Québec.
Turning Camera Roll Videos Into Revenue
Founded by Laura Lalonde, GridBank aims to transform the videos stored on users' smartphones into a valuable asset for both content creators and brands. The platform allows users to upload their everyday video clips, which brands can then purchase for a more authentic approach to their digital marketing strategies. Lalonde, who has a background in performance marketing, realized the potential of unstaged video content to drive higher engagement. "Everybody in the world has videos sitting on their phone," Lalonde said. "How on earth has no one built an economy or an infrastructure around this asset?"
How GridBank Works
GridBank's platform, which launched in 2023, enables users to upload videos such as personal moments or scenic views, which are not associated with any specific brand. Ad agencies can then buy these clips to incorporate into their marketing campaigns, leveraging the genuine feel of user-generated content. Users are compensated for their contributions once their content is sold, creating a new revenue stream from videos that would otherwise remain unused.

The seed round was led by StandUp Ventures. This funding marks a significant milestone for GridBank as it continues to develop its platform and expand its reach. Other notable investors in this round include Version One Ventures, GreenSky Ventures, AQC Capital, and Anges Québec.
