GreenCell Mobility Expands Electric Bus Fleet with New Funding
GreenCell Mobility, a Mumbai-based company specializing in electric bus operations, has secured $37.62 million (Rs 330 crore) in funding from Impact Fund Denmark. This financial boost aims to facilitate the expansion of GreenCell's electric bus fleet across India.
Funding Details and Objectives
The specific round of funding was not disclosed, but Impact Fund Denmark led the investment. The capital will be used primarily to support the deployment of approximately 4,500 electric buses, with the goal of increasing GreenCell's fleet to over 5,000 vehicles across 105 cities.
Devndra Chawla, Managing Director and CEO of GreenCell Mobility, stated that the funding will provide the company with greater financial flexibility to execute existing orders and manage the operational demands of fleet expansion. "We are a fast-growing company and hope to deploy the buses over the next six to eight quarters," Chawla noted.
Company Background
Founded in 2019, GreenCell Mobility operates electric buses on both intracity and intercity routes. The company focuses on electric Mobility as a Service (eMaaS), fleet operations, and charging infrastructure. Its operations include the NueGo brand, which provides electric bus services across India.
Strategic Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds will enable GreenCell Mobility to enhance its fleet size significantly. This expansion is expected to improve the company's service coverage across multiple urban and semi-urban locations in India. The focus will be on increasing the number of electric buses available for public transport, thereby contributing to a reduction in carbon emissions in the transportation sector.
Conclusion
With this latest funding round, GreenCell Mobility is well-positioned to expand its electric bus operations and strengthen its presence in the Indian electric mobility market. The support from Impact Fund Denmark reflects growing international interest in sustainable transportation solutions in India.
