GOA Therapeutics Secures $15.5 Million in Funding

GOA Therapeutics, based in Dallas, Texas, has raised $15.5 million in an undisclosed funding round. The company is focused on developing innovative treatments for acute alcohol intoxication and poisoning.

Launch of GOA26 Drug Candidate

The funding coincides with the unveiling of GOA26, GOA Therapeutics' lead investigational drug designed to rapidly lower blood alcohol concentration (BAC) in cases of acute alcohol intoxication. The company presented promising preclinical data at the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma's annual meeting. In studies involving a porcine model, GOA26 showed a 61.3% reduction in BAC within 20 minutes of administration compared to untreated controls.

Plans for FDA Submission

GOA Therapeutics aims to advance GOA26 toward human clinical trials with plans to submit an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the fourth quarter of 2026. Currently, there is no FDA-approved medication that can promptly reduce BAC in patients experiencing acute alcohol intoxication.

Use of Funds

While specific details on the use of the newly raised funds were not disclosed, it is expected that the capital will support the continued development and potential commercialization of GOA26, as well as the planned FDA submission.

Undisclosed Investors

The funding round did not disclose any lead or participating investors, which is not uncommon for early-stage biotech companies.

GOA Therapeutics continues to address a significant unmet need in the medical field, offering potential solutions for a condition that remains a substantial burden on healthcare systems.
