Galaxia Space Systems Secures Seed Funding
Galaxia Space Systems, a Halifax-based startup specializing in AI-powered satellites and software-defined orbital infrastructure, has announced a $3.2 million seed funding round. This round is co-led by Amiral Ventures and the business development agency Invest Nova Scotia.
Advancing Satellite Technology
Galaxia Space Systems is focused on developing satellites that are capable of processing and analyzing data directly in orbit. This capability is crucial for defense, government, and commercial missions that require real-time intelligence. CEO Arad Gharagozli stated, "We are building the foundation for a new class of space systems which deliver intelligence, not just data."
Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds will be used to support the deployment of Galaxia's satellite systems and to further develop its hybrid space networking capabilities. The company aims to scale its offerings to meet the needs of both commercial and government clients, enhancing Canada's sovereign space capabilities.
Strategic Investment
The investment by Amiral Ventures and Invest Nova Scotia aligns with Canada's broader strategy to bolster its space infrastructure. This move comes in response to the federal government's designation of space-based intelligence and communications as key sovereign capabilities.
Looking Ahead
With this funding, Galaxia Space Systems is well-positioned to enhance its infrastructure and service offerings, contributing to Canada's growing presence in the space sector.
