Eyedentity Raises €1.3 Million for AI Development
Eyedentity, a MedTech startup from the Greater Stockholm Metropolitan Area, has successfully raised €1.3 million in an undisclosed funding round on August 22, 2026. The round was led by Norrsken Launcher, with participation from Karolinska Institutet Innovation. The company aims to further develop its AI-based decision support tool, melAInoma, which assists eye care professionals in the early detection of uveal melanoma using retinal images.
Leadership and Vision
The company was co-founded by Gustav Stålhammar, who serves as the Chief Scientific Officer, alongside Mats Holmstrom, the Chief Executive Officer, and Fredrik Edin. "A huge number of images are already taken at opticians, and there is a trend that opticians in particular are getting an increasingly large group of patients," noted Stålhammar, highlighting the growing demand for advanced diagnostic tools in eye care.
Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds will be directed towards obtaining regulatory approval, enhancing product development, and expanding the company's AI-powered diagnostics platform. These enhancements aim to make the technology more accessible to opticians, eye clinics, and hospitals.
Anna Fredrixon, a partner at Norrsken Launcher, expressed the potential impact of Eyedentity's technology: "This is a clear example of technology that can save lives but, unlike other AI companies, does not send more patients to an already overburdened healthcare system."
