Exponent Energy Raises $22.8 Million in Latest Funding Round
Bengaluru-based Exponent Energy has successfully raised $22.8 million (Rs 200 crore) in a recent funding round. The round was co-led by 360 ONE Asset and TDK Ventures, with participation from several other investors, including Hitachi Ventures, Eight Roads Ventures, Lightspeed, 3one4 Capital, AdvantEdge VC, and YourNest.
Founded in 2020 by Arun Vinayak and Sanjay Jagannath, Exponent Energy is pioneering a full energy stack technology that can fully charge electric vehicles (EVs) in just 15 minutes. Their technology encompasses the entire charging ecosystem, from battery design to the charging infrastructure itself.
Investment to Fuel Expansion
The newly secured funds will be pivotal in expanding Exponent Energy's operations beyond its current bases in Bengaluru and Delhi. The company plans to enter new cities, diversify into additional commercial vehicle categories, and enhance its research and development capabilities.
"The first four to five years were focused on technology development and proving reliability," noted Arun Vinayak, Co-Founder of Exponent Energy. "Now the objective is to scale and put this technology into action."
Current Operations and Future Plans
Exponent Energy currently operates approximately 200 charging stations across Bengaluru and Delhi, primarily targeting electric three-wheelers. The company is also exploring larger battery systems, moving from their initial 10kWh battery packs for three-wheelers to 420kWh systems for electric buses.
Beyond infrastructure, Exponent Energy offers financing solutions for fleet operators through its Exponent One arm, further integrating its services into the commercial EV market.
Leading Investors and Their Role
The funding round was notably led by 360 ONE Asset and TDK Ventures. These investors bring not only capital but also strategic support to Exponent Energy as it aims to broaden its footprint in the EV charging sector.
Use of Funds
The capital injection will be strategically used to expand Exponent Energyβs geographical reach and technological offerings. This includes scaling operations to new cities and enhancing their R&D initiatives to innovate further in rapid-charging solutions.
With this latest funding, Exponent Energy is well-positioned to accelerate the adoption of its rapid charging technology, potentially transforming the EV landscape in India and beyond.
