Amsterdam Fintech Duqu Raises €1.5 Million
Duqu, an Amsterdam-based fintech startup, has successfully raised €1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round. The funding was led by Curiosity VC, with additional participation from No Such Ventures. Duqu specializes in providing short-term financing solutions to businesses against unpaid B2B invoices, utilizing artificial intelligence to streamline the funding application process.
Founders and Leadership
The company was founded by Maas Goede and Victor Brouwer. Goede commented on the pressing issue of delayed invoice payments, stating, "Businesses can arrange almost everything instantly today, yet after completing the work they can still wait weeks to get paid. That no longer matches the pace at which businesses operate. Growth cannot wait for an invoice to be paid."
Strategic Use of Funds
Duqu plans to use the newly acquired funds to expand its working capital platform. This expansion aims to assist more businesses in managing their cash flow effectively while they wait for customers to settle their invoices. Additionally, the company intends to invest in enhancing its AI-powered underwriting technology, which plays a crucial role in evaluating funding applications efficiently.
Addressing Cash Flow Challenges
The issue of late payments is significant, with Duqu noting that 46% of B2B invoices in the Netherlands are paid after their due dates. Such delays can hinder businesses from covering essential costs, including salaries, inventory, marketing, and hiring. By offering access to funds based on outstanding invoices, Duqu provides a vital service that helps businesses maintain liquidity and operational stability.
The funding round marks a significant step for Duqu in its mission to mitigate the cash flow challenges faced by businesses, particularly in the fast-paced environment where immediate financial transactions are increasingly becoming the norm.
