Pune-Based Startup Secures Pre-Seed Funding
CureMeAbroad, a Pune-based startup specializing in facilitating affordable medical treatments abroad, has successfully raised $600,000 in a pre-seed funding round. Founded by Aditya Oza and Mikhail Bohra, the company aims to connect patients with top hospitals and medical professionals worldwide for procedures like plastic surgery, dental care, and hair transplants, offering potential savings of up to 70% on medical costs.
Investors Behind the Funding
The funding round saw participation from a diverse group of investors, including Dr. Roman Saini, co-founder of Unacademy and an AIIMS-trained physician; Himanshu Ratnoo, former CEO of Cars24 India; Kunal Gupta, co-founder and CEO of EMotorad; Devaiah Bopanna, co-founder of Moonshot; Vikrant Potnis, founder of the Indian Academy of Venture Capital (IAVC) and FundEnable; and AIRA Buildon. No lead investor was designated in this round.
Addressing Challenges in Medical Tourism
CureMeAbroad was established in June 2025 to tackle inefficiencies in the cross-border medical travel sector. According to CEO Aditya Oza, the industry faces significant challenges such as a lack of transparent pricing, reliance on informal intermediaries, and unverified provider networks. Oza emphasized the need for a trusted platform in this space, comparing it to a "Booking.com for medical tourism."
Strategic Use of Funds
While specific plans for the use of the $600,000 raised were not detailed, the company intends to use the funds to boost its platform's growth. This could involve enhancing their AI-powered discovery tools, expanding their network of medical providers, and improving user experience to better facilitate medical tourism.
Market Potential
The global medical tourism market is projected to reach $174 billion by 2035, with an estimated 14 million patients traveling abroad for treatment annually. CureMeAbroad aims to capture a significant portion of this market by providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for international patients seeking medical procedures.
Founders' Vision
Co-founder and CMO Mikhail Bohra, along with Aditya Oza, are driven by the vision of making medical tourism more accessible and less daunting for patients. They emphasize building trust and transparency as core components of their platform, aiming to fill the current gaps in the market.
CureMeAbroad's recent funding is a step towards realizing their mission of becoming a leading platform in the medical tourism sector, providing patients with a seamless and trustworthy experience when seeking treatment abroad.
