Codio Raises $5 Million in Growth Funding

Codio, a company that enhances tech education through hands-on learning experiences in fields like software development and AI, has successfully secured $5 million in growth funding. The investment round was led by Armada Investment, a long-term partner of the company.

New AI Literacy Platform

With the new funding, Codio is launching an AI Literacy platform aimed at preparing students for the AI-driven workforce. This initiative marks a significant shift in educational focus from traditional digital literacy to AI literacy. The platform is aligned with the U.S. Department of Labor’s AI Literacy framework and emphasizes critical thinking skills through its "Notice, Test, Verify, Explain and Defend" methodology.

Phillip Snalune, Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer, highlighted the importance of this new offering, stating that it is designed to teach students not only how to use AI tools but also how to evaluate their effectiveness and maintain accountability in AI-assisted decision-making processes.

Strategic Use of Funds

The $5 million investment will primarily be used to expand Codio's AI Literacy platform across various academic disciplines beyond computer science. This expansion aims to equip students in fields like business, finance, healthcare, and communications with the skills necessary to utilize AI effectively in their future careers.

Integration with Existing Systems

Codio's platform integrates seamlessly with existing learning management systems such as Canvas, allowing educational institutions to incorporate AI-focused assignments into their current curricula. This integration provides faculty with oversight of student interactions with AI, ensuring responsible use of technology in educational settings.
