Bunkerhill Health Secures $55 Million in Series B Funding

Bunkerhill Health, a San Francisco-based company specializing in AI solutions for clinical and administrative tasks in healthcare, has raised $55 million in its Series B funding round. The round was led by Khosla Ventures with participation from Sequoia Capital, Felicis, Optum Ventures, and Y Combinator.

Company Background

Co-founded by Nishith Khandwala and David Eng, Bunkerhill Health is focused on helping health systems build, deploy, and scale AI agents to improve clinical and operational efficiency. Their platform, Carebricks, provides a unified solution for health systems to create and manage AI-driven workflows without needing to develop AI infrastructure from scratch.

Carebricks Platform

The Carebricks platform is already being utilized by prominent health institutions such as Cleveland Clinic, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), and Intermountain Health. It allows these systems to transform clinical and operational ideas into production-grade AI agents. Some of the use cases include reviewing cardiology imaging, identifying patients for follow-up care, and streamlining prior authorizations.

At UTMB, the platform's AI agents have been credited with significant improvements in patient care and operational efficiency. For instance, a coronary calcium detection agent flagged a patient at risk of a heart attack, leading to timely medical intervention.

Use of Funds

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards enhancing the capabilities of the Carebricks platform. This includes advancing its governance, monitoring, and safety infrastructure to support the deployment of AI at a larger scale across health systems.

Investor Insights

Khosla Ventures led the funding round, marking a significant endorsement of Bunkerhill Health's approach to integrating AI in healthcare. The participation of other notable investors like Sequoia Capital and Y Combinator further underscores the confidence in the company's innovative platform.

Looking Ahead

With this new investment, Bunkerhill Health is poised to continue its work in transforming healthcare operations through AI, potentially setting new standards for efficiency and patient outcomes in the industry.
