Montréal Startup Brdg Raises $850,000 to Innovate Construction Financing
Brdg, a Montréal-based startup, has successfully raised $850,000 CAD in a pre-seed funding round. The investment, led by Forum Ventures, aims to support Brdg's mission to simplify construction project management through its AI-powered platform. The platform assists real estate developers, cost consultants, and lenders by automating project management tasks, budget tracking, and construction financing.
Addressing Construction Financing Challenges
Brdg's platform is designed to tackle the often cumbersome process of construction financing, which co-founder Samuel Brand describes as "fragmented and manual-labour-intensive." The platform offers automated draws and lender-ready reporting, addressing the time-intensive nature of construction draws, a phased payment system that requires meticulous oversight.
"A lot of time is being wasted, and time in construction is money," Brand emphasized, highlighting the inefficiencies that Brdg aims to resolve. The founders, who have experience in general contracting and development, recognized these challenges firsthand and launched Brdg in 2024 to provide a more efficient solution.
Use of Funds
The newly secured funds will be utilized to further develop Brdg's technology and expand its reach within the Canadian construction industry. By leveraging AI, the company seeks to enhance the construction draw process, making it more accessible and manageable for small to mid-sized developers who may lack extensive internal resources.
Investor Confidence
Forum Ventures, a New York-based investment firm, led the funding round. Kevin Corliss, a partner at Forum, expressed confidence in Brdg's approach and the domain expertise of its founders, noting their potential to build a sustainable business model around their technology.
Brdg's innovative approach marks a significant step forward in modernizing construction financing, a sector long overdue for technological advancement.
