BrainChild Bio, a Seattle-based biotechnology company focusing on pediatric brain tumors, has announced the successful closing of a $116 million Series A funding round. The company specializes in developing CAR-T cell therapies targeting tumors in the central nervous system, with a primary focus on pediatric applications but plans to expand to adult indications.

Investors and Funding Details

The Series A round saw participation from Seattle Children’s and WRF Capital. Although a private family fund and foundation led this financing round, their identities remain undisclosed. This marks a significant step forward for the company as it seeks to advance its clinical programs.

Use of Funds

The newly secured funds will be allocated towards several key initiatives. Primarily, they will support the ILLUMINATE Phase 2 clinical trial for BCB-276, a B7-H3-targeted CAR T cell therapy aimed at treating diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive type of pediatric brainstem tumor. Additionally, the funds will help in the development of BCB-214, a triple-targeting CAR T cell therapy set for initial clinical testing in glioblastoma.
