Biodimension Raises $912K in Seed Funding

Biodimension, a life sciences startup based in Bengaluru, has successfully raised $912,000 (Rs 8 crore) in a seed funding round. The round was led by IAN Angel Fund, with participation from Campus Angels Network, Dr. Sampath Srisailam, and Aaryan Baid.

Founded by Pradeep Arunachalam, who serves as the CXO, and Ranjith Velusamy, the Director, Biodimension specializes in developing biofabricated human tissue models. These models are crucial for drug testing and safety research, offering pharmaceutical, biotech, and cosmetic companies a more precise alternative to traditional testing methods.

Strategic Use of Funds

Biodimension plans to allocate the newly acquired funds towards various growth initiatives. The company intends to accelerate its product development and expand laboratory infrastructure. Additionally, there is a focus on strengthening both its scientific and commercial teams, aiming for broader market reach in India and internationally.

Local Innovation in Drug Testing

India, despite being a major hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, often relies on imported human tissue testing models. Biodimension is addressing this gap by developing locally manufactured alternatives. The company's products, including their BioDEpi line, aim to meet global regulatory standards while being more cost-effective and quicker to access for Indian researchers and industries.

"The funding will enable us to expand our capabilities and reach," said Pradeep Arunachalam, highlighting the company's commitment to innovation and market expansion.

Conclusion

With this substantial seed funding, Biodimension is poised to enhance its product offerings and expand its market presence. The investment reflects confidence in the startup's potential to provide innovative and accessible solutions in the life sciences sector.
