BatX Energies Raises Series A Funding

BatX Energies, a leading lithium-ion battery recycling company based in Gurugram, Haryana, India, has successfully raised $11.97 million (Rs 105 crore) in a Series A funding round. This round was led by IvyCap Ventures, with participation from investors including Zephyr Peacock, Mankind Pharma Family Office, Excel Industries Family Office, and JITO.

Company Overview

Founded in 2020, BatX Energies has established itself as India's largest recycler of lithium-ion batteries. The company specializes in recovering and refining materials such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite from end-of-life batteries and manufacturing scrap. These materials are then reintroduced into the battery supply chain, supporting the creation of eco-friendly and sustainable energy sources.

Strategic Expansion Plans

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards expanding BatX Energies' battery recycling and refining capacities. The company plans to bolster its research and development efforts and develop a domestic supply chain for critical battery materials. Additionally, BatX is working on producing cathode active materials, essential components in lithium-ion battery manufacturing.

"We are now positioned to scale what we have successfully built in India to global markets," stated Utkarsh Singh, co-founder and CEO of BatX Energies. The company aims to address global challenges related to securing sustainable supplies of critical minerals by building circular and resilient supply chains.

Current Operations

BatX Energies currently operates with a battery shredding capacity of 5,000 metric tonnes per year and a hydrometallurgy capacity of the same volume. The company also boasts a network of micro facilities across India, with a combined capacity exceeding 20,000 metric tonnes annually, and a battery refurbishing capacity of 20 MWh.

Future Outlook

With this significant injection of capital, BatX Energies is poised to enhance its operational capabilities further and potentially expand its market reach beyond India. The company's focus on recycling and sustainable energy solutions aligns with the growing global demand for greener and more sustainable industrial practices.

Overall, this funding round marks a pivotal step for BatX Energies in its mission to lead the charge in battery recycling and critical mineral recovery, positioning itself as a key player in the sustainable energy sector.
