AttoTude Secures $52 Million in Series C Funding
AttoTude, a Menlo Park-based company pioneering advancements in data center connectivity, has announced a $52 million Series C funding round. The company is focused on eliminating networking bottlenecks in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructures using its innovative terahertz technology, including the AttoEngine and AttoWire.
Investors and Leadership
The funding round was spearheaded by The Westly Group, with participation from both new and existing investors. New strategic investors include Keysight Technologies, Allegis Capital, and DNX, while Sutter Hill Ventures, Mayfield, Canaan, and Wing Venture Capital continued their support.
AttoTude was co-founded by Dave Welch, who serves as CEO, and Joy Laskar, the company's CTO. Welch, a co-founder of Infinera, brings extensive experience in technology development, while Laskar is a serial entrepreneur and former professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Use of Funds
The newly acquired capital is earmarked for advancing product development, constructing initial prototypes, and establishing a scalable supply chain. This strategic investment aims to transition AttoTude's technology from research and development to commercialization. The company plans to demonstrate its first products later in the year, showcasing its "ASIC over Dielectric" architecture.
Technological Advancements
AttoTude's platform is designed to provide high-density, energy-efficient connectivity for data rates of 200G, 400G, and 800G per lane. This technology offers a compelling alternative to traditional copper interconnects by reducing power consumption and complexity, without the high costs associated with optical technologies. The approach aims to meet the growing connectivity demands of large-scale AI clusters and hyperscale data centers.
Industry Outlook
The Westly Group's Managing Partner, Steve Westly, commented on the strong customer interest and industry-leading performance demonstrated by AttoTude's technology, which also emphasizes reducing energy consumption for AI clusters. Keysight Technologies echoed the importance of emerging interconnect architectures as AI infrastructure continues to scale.
With this latest funding round, AttoTude is well-positioned to explore broad deployment opportunities with leading hyperscale and AI infrastructure providers, marking a significant step in addressing critical connectivity challenges in the industry.
