Amidex Raises ¥120 Million in Pre-Series A Funding

Amidex, a Tokushima-based startup, has successfully raised ¥120 million in a Pre-Series A funding round. The company, led by CEO Akira Ihara, is focused on innovating dental restorative treatments using advanced digital technology. Amidex aims to improve traditional methods that often require removing healthy tooth structure, by introducing a new system that enhances adhesion and reduces the need for extensive drilling.

Details of the Funding Round

The recent funding round was led by University-Industry Collaboration Capital, Awa Bank Capital, and Iyo Bank Capital. The participating investors include University-Industry Collaboration No. 1 Investment Business Limited Liability Partnership, Awagin Innovation Investment Business Limited Liability Partnership, and Iyo Venture Fund No. 8 Investment Business Limited Liability Partnership.

About Amidex's Technology

Amidex has developed a system that utilizes a pre-designed tooth shape as a transparent mold, known as the "Amidex" system, to perform composite resin restorations. This method aims to standardize and expedite Minimal Intervention (MI) treatments, which focus on preserving as much of the natural tooth as possible. By employing digital technology, Amidex enhances the reproducibility of these treatments, making them more accessible and efficient for dental practitioners.

Expansion and Growth

The company has seen significant growth, with the number of dental clinics using its ordering system doubling from 209 to 420 within a year. This expansion reflects the increasing demand for Amidex's innovative approach to dental care, which seeks to maintain healthy tooth structure while providing effective restorations.

Strategic Use of Funds

The newly acquired funds will be directed toward enhancing the design and manufacturing system for the production of dental indices. Additionally, Amidex plans to strengthen support systems for dental clinics and expand its workforce to support continued business growth. "We are committed to promoting treatments that prioritize the preservation of healthy teeth," said CEO Akira Ihara.

Future Prospects

Founded in August 2023 at Tokushima University, Amidex has already achieved significant milestones, including selection for the NEDO NEP grant and recognition in various business contests. With this funding, the company is set to further its mission of transforming dental restorative treatments through technology and innovation.
