AgZen Inc. Raises $10 Million to Enhance Agricultural Efficiency
AgZen Inc., based in Somerville, Massachusetts, has successfully raised $10 million in a Series B funding round, announced on March 13, 2026. The company, which aims to modernize farming by providing real-time insights into droplet behavior, empowers growers with tools to optimize agricultural spraying practices.
Investors and Funding Details
The funding round was led by DCVC Bio, with additional participation from Material Impact and Astanor Ventures. This investment follows a period of significant adoption of AgZen's technology, which exceeded the company's internal expectations.
Company Background
AgZen, an MIT spinout, is co-founded by Maher Damak and Vishnu Jayaprakash, who also serves as the CEO. The company has developed the RealCoverage® system, which allows farmers to monitor and control the application of sprays at a granular level. This technology has been shown to reduce chemical inputs by 30-50% without sacrificing yield.
Expansion and Adoption
In a single growing season, the deployment of AgZen's RealCoverage system expanded 15-fold, reaching nearly one million commercial acres in the U.S. For the year 2026, the company has secured commitments for more than two million acres across the U.S., Australia, and Argentina. "Growers adopted the system faster than anticipated," CEO Vishnu Jayaprakash noted.
Strategic Partnerships
Alongside the funding, AgZen announced a strategic partnership with Syngenta AG, supported by a strategic investment from Syngenta Group Ventures. This collaboration aligns AgZen's technology with one of the largest global crop protection entities, aiming to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of crop spraying.
Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds will be directed towards accelerating the production and deployment of the RealCoverage system. AgZen plans to more than double the number of units in the field in the coming year, with a focus on expanding dealer-supported deployments globally. This expansion is part of AgZen's strategy to build a comprehensive data set that could influence chemical formulation, equipment design, and regulatory frameworks in agriculture.
Future Outlook
As AgZen continues to grow, its data-driven approach is expected to provide significant benefits to the agricultural sector, offering better visibility into product performance and optimizing spray applications. This funding round positions AgZen to further its mission of transforming agricultural practices through innovative technology.
