Adaptyv Raises $40 Million in Series A Funding

Adaptyv, a Swiss-based company specializing in generating data for AI-driven protein design, has successfully raised $40 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Highland Europe, with participation from existing investors ACE Ventures, byFounders, and Y Combinator.

The company, headquartered in Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland, operates fully automated laboratories that deliver clean experimental data through a comprehensive API. These labs enable AI models to design new proteins in a remarkably short time frame of just three weeks.

Expansion Plans

Julian Englert, Co-Founder and CEO of Adaptyv, announced plans to use the newly acquired funds to further expand their automated laboratory infrastructure. The company aims to double its team in Lausanne and open a new office and laboratory in London by the fourth quarter of 2026. This expansion is part of their strategy to enhance high-throughput experimental infrastructure, which supports the needs of autonomous AI research systems.

Growing Customer Base

Adaptyv has seen its laboratory throughput increase more than fivefold over the past year. The company has successfully onboarded over 100 customers, including notable names such as Chai Discovery, Boltz, Roche, and Novo Nordisk. These clients span various sectors, including AI biology startups, pharmaceutical companies, and biotechnology organizations.

Strategic Use of Funds

The Series A funding will not only aid in geographical expansion but also support the scaling of Adaptyv's automated lab capabilities. The company plans to continue developing its infrastructure to meet the growing demand from AI-driven research initiatives.
