Lean Mobility Secures Significant Pre-Series A Funding
Lean Mobility, a company known for developing ultra-compact electric vehicles designed for short-distance urban travel, has successfully raised ¥800 million in its Pre-Series A funding round. The round, concluded on June 30, 2026, was led by the Decarbonization Support Organization (JICN) and included participation from existing investor Tech Sphere Investments (TSI).
Innovative Urban Mobility Solutions
Lean Mobility's flagship product, the "Lean3," is an ultra-compact electric vehicle featuring a unique three-wheel configuration. It incorporates a front two-wheel steering and rear one-wheel drive system, enhanced by their proprietary "Active Lean System." This system allows the vehicle to maintain high stability by enabling the body to tilt during turns and on uneven surfaces. As a fully electric vehicle, the Lean3 operates with zero CO2 emissions, positioning it as a sustainable alternative to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.
Strategic Use of Funds
The newly acquired funds are earmarked for several strategic initiatives:
- Mass Production: The company plans to establish a production line at its Tainan factory to accelerate the mass production of the Lean3.
- Sales and Service Expansion: Lean Mobility aims to strengthen its sales and service networks for commercial vehicles in Japan and Taiwan.
- Market Exploration: The company is exploring new markets to expand its reach.
- Development and Talent Acquisition: Funds will also support ongoing development efforts and the recruitment of new talent.
Future Developments
In addition to vehicle development, Lean Mobility is working on a data platform called "LeanX." This platform is designed to integrate driving data from its vehicles and is expected to offer various services such as charging solutions, over-the-air software updates, and pricing optimization.
As Lean Mobility continues to innovate in the electric vehicle space, its focus remains on expanding its next-generation mobility solutions with a long-term vision towards Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) and autonomous driving.
