Channel Robotics Raises $4.6 Million in Seed Funding

Channel Robotics, based in San Diego, California, has successfully raised $4.6 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by True Ventures, with additional participation from Defined VC and Old Line Capital Partners. Channel Robotics, co-founded by Philip Weissbrod, is developing a handheld AI-enabled endoscopic robotic platform aimed at enhancing medical procedures by integrating robotic capabilities into existing flexible endoscopes.

Company’s Mission and Technology

Channel Robotics is focused on making advanced endoscopic procedures more accessible by eliminating the need for large robotic systems. The company's technology combines robotic instrumentation with intuitive control systems and artificial intelligence to provide precise and accessible endoscopic interventions. "Our mission is to democratize access to advanced endoscopic robotics," said Michael Yip, Co-Founder of Channel Robotics.

Planned Use of Funds

The newly raised funds will be directed towards several key areas:

  • Product Development: Continued refinement and validation of the prototype platform.
  • Regulatory Advancement: Preparation for an FDA submission targeted for 2027.
  • Commercialization: Advancement of manufacturing and quality systems, and preparation for commercial launch following regulatory clearance.

Investors' Perspective

True Ventures, the lead investor, expressed confidence in the company's innovative approach. Rohit Sharma, a partner at True Ventures, noted the unique combination of clinical experience and robotics expertise that the co-founders bring to the table.

Channel Robotics is poised to make significant strides in the field of endoscopic robotics, with this funding round marking an important step in their journey towards commercialization and broader adoption of their technology.
